About
The son of a Wonche medicine man, and the first African-born
artist to win the NEA National Heritage Fellowship Award,
master drummer Obo Addy embodies the past, present, and future
of Ghana’s musical culture. Along with his two performance
ensembles Kukrudu and Okropong, Obo Addy presents an overview
of traditional Ghanaian tribal music and dance—from “highlife,”
a blend of African, British, and American musical genres, to
some of his latest compositions.
