About
Jean-Bernard Pommier, pianist in recital, Beethoven's late piano works (along
with the other music from the end of his life) are regarded as among the highest
pinnacles of western music; works which are approached with reverence and only
after immense study by the greatest interpreters of our time. The critically acclaimed
French pianist Jean-Bernard Pommier has appeared over the years in recitals and
as a guest of orchestras in every important world music center. He has also performed
as a soloist in Beethoven cycles with Daniel Barienboim and Orchestre de Paris
and Herbert von Karajan and the Berlin Philharmonic. Classical Net reviews Mr.
Pommier’s playing on his complete recording of Beethoven’s Sonatas (Erato) as
“ideally Classical…He is fleet, sensitive, flexible, and very expressive.” And
the Los Angeles Times writes: “Jean-Bernard Pommier essayed Mozart’s piano
concerto in D minor with the kind of crystalline tone, bright without being brittle,
that Allows Mozart to sparkle…Pommier deserved his multiple curtain calls from
the public.”
