About
Nurit Bar-Josef, the highly praised concertmaster of the National Symphony Orchestra since September 2001, has appeared as soloist with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Boston Pops, Saint Louis Symphony, among others. She has performed chamber music at the Caramoor, Tanglewood ,and Taos festivals and in Boston, Philadelphia, New York and Washington. Known as “a performer of great subtlety and finesse” (St. Louis Post-Dispatch), she has a “technique that would seem to know no difficulties” and plays with “dark-hued elegance”(The Washington Post).
Pianist Lambert Orkis appears on the world's foremost concert platforms as a solo recitalist and as the regular touring partner and recording partner of violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter, with whom he is winner of Grammy Award for Best Chamber Music Performance for their Deutsche Grammophon recording of Beethoven sonatas. At home in Washington, he is principal keyboardist for the National Symphony Orchestra. The New York Times wrote that Mr. Orkis’s playing is “vivid, cohesive and magical,” and The Washington Post adds, “He…played impeccably and with genuine musical and pianistic elegance.”
