About

The lush baritone voice of Johnny Hartman enriched many big bands in the Forties and Fifties including Dizzy Gillespie’s and Erol Garner’s, but it was the unlikely pairing with John Coltrane that brought out the luxuriant sound of the singer’s best work. Vocalist Kevin Mahogany—“the big man from Kansas City with the commanding stage presence” (Jazz Times)—honors the memory of the talented singer.
