About
For more than 25 years, pianist Joseph Kalichstein, violinist
Jaime Laredo, and cellist Sharon Robinson have been the reigning
exemplar for the piano trio. "Evenly and expertly matched, [they]
convey the sheer pleasure of making music so spontaneously.
Individually and collectively, these musicians are special"
(The Chicago Tribune). For its second season as the Kennedy
Center Chamber Music Ensemble-in-Residence, the
Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio joins forces with The Miami
String Quartet, which has quickly established its place among
the most respected young quartets in America. "The Miami players
have everything one wants in a quartet: a rich, precisely
balanced sound, a broad coloristic palette, real unity of
interpretive purpose, and seemingly unflagging energy"
(The New York Times). Together in the Terrace Theater, the two
ensembles offer a complete survey of string combinations—a trio
by Beethoven, a quartet by Wolf, a quintet by Brahms, and a
sextet by Dvo?ák.
