About
As leading exponents of Renaissance sacred music, this
"extraordinary" (The New York Times) choral ensemble from
Great Britain has been combining unmatched purity and clarity
of sound with pioneering scholarship for more than 30 years.
"To hear them perform is one of the great live music experiences
of our time," says the Boston Globe. "Moreover, the splendid
musicality and gorgeous sound of the group add a positively
mystical aspect to a concert." For the 2004 Christmas season,
The Tallis Scholars bring an enchanting early-music holiday
program to the Terrace Theater. Songs include the atmospheric
choral cycle O magnum mysterium, a meditation on the wonder and promise of the Nativity; Musae Jovis, a hauntingly beautiful elegy in memory of composer Josquin Desprez; and Vox in rama, an expressive and poignant motet.
