About

Embracing the talents of his mentor Miles Davis and other predecessors, Grammy-winning trumpeter and composer Wallace Roney draws upon his own imagination for a genre-bending sound that merges the past with the future. All About Jazz says: "His approach may be filtered through myriad influences from Coltrane to Herbie Hancock and early Weather Report--but at the end of the day, he sounds like nobody but himself." Praised for fusing acoustic and electric elements and incorporating funky, urban beats into his music, the Howard University alum is part of a musical family that includes his wife, pianist Geri Allen, and brother, saxophonist Antoine Roney.
