About
Born in Baltimore, pianist Cyrus Chestnut began his remarkable career performing alongside such jazz luminaries as Wynton Marsalis, Terence Blanchard, and as a member of Betty Carter's trio. "Nut," as he is called, relies on his formidable gospel roots to express his affinity for early jazz forms, revealing "an orchestral command of the keyboard and a sophisticated sense of swing" (People Magazine). Joined by a vocalist, horns, and a rhythm section, Chestnut performs on the Hammond B-3 organ in this lively program, blending original gospel with intoxicating jazz rhythms.
