A protégé of Betty Carter and the winner of the 1993 Thelonious Monk International Jazz Piano Competition, Jacky Terrasson is known for his smooth touch and distinctive spin on the standards. The New York Times hails him as "reliably brilliant and spontaneous," while the Los Angeles Times calls him "a pianist with a shining improvisational imagination." In the KC Jazz Club, Terrasson performs selections from his newly released Blue Note CD Mirror, a playful and exclamatory solo outing featuring his twist on straight-ahead favorites as well as originals.
