About
--The New York Times
"The astounding melding of their voices is simply otherworldly."
--The Globe
Founded in 1974, this British a cappella quartet is one of the world's foremost vocal groups, bringing their ensemble virtuosity to bear on great works of the Medieval, Renaissance, and contemporary periods. In 2005, they were nominated for a Grammy Award in the category of Best Chamber Music Recording, and their CD landed on the New York Times "Best of the Year" list. For their Kennedy Center debut, The Hilliard Ensemble performs a program of vocal music by two quintessential Renaissance composers: Orlando de Lassus's four-part Requiem Mass, interspersed with motets and antiphons by Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina.
This program is performed without intermission and lasts approximately 65 minutes.
