About

Celebrating the Vogler String Quartet's 25th anniversary and the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, the Vogler's collaborative ZIMRO Project incorporates Jewish art music into their soaring chamber music program. Founded in 2008, the group is inspired by the Zimro Ensemble, chamber players active almost a century ago in St. Petersburg, Russia. Keeping with the Center's Focus on Russia, the program opens with Prokofiev's lauded Overture on Hebrew Themes. Then the Vogler launches into pieces pulled from their recently acclaimed recording, Zimro: A Broken Concert Tour--each piece a work of inspired modernism created by the past century's most creative Russian-Jewish composers.
