The ATOS Trio, founded in 2003, is young but already making a huge splash in the chamber music world. Winner of the 2007 Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio Award and the Audience Prize at the Melbourne International Chamber Competition, the German ensemble in fact seems to win nearly every competition it enters. ATOS is comprised of three individually strong and passionate musicians, a fact which Melbourne's The Age credits with their success: "What marks out the trio members is the validity of a musical relationship that starts off with a thorough awareness of their interdependence."
This unification of individual strengths makes ATOS a fitting ensemble to close a Fortas season defined by the collaborative spirit. Performing trios by Haydn, Beethoven, and Dvorák, the ATOS Trio plays with the zeal of a group which believes that they can bring further brilliance to the greatest masterpieces. This is a Kennedy Center debut performance not to be missed.
