About

On the 50th anniversary year of Thelonious Monk's historic recording, Monk's Dream, pianist Benny Green celebrates his first and most significant musical hero by joining forces with some of his closest colleagues, including special guest baritone saxophonist Gary Smulyan, plus bassist Peter Washington and drummer Kenny Washington, with whom he has recorded and played for more than a quarter century. Called "an all-around piano man for his time" (Boston Herald), Green tackles what might be considered the Holy Grail for any jazz pianist--the unmistakable artistry of Thelonious Monk--breathing new life into compositions that need no introduction and yet still bend the ear with the same fascination as the day they were written.
