Mark the 11/11/11 calendar milestone with the world's most talented jazz pianists as they pay tribute to the Kennedy Center's late Artistic Director for Jazz, Dr. Billy Taylor (1921–2010). Join pianists including NEA Jazz Master Toshiko Akiyoshi, Geri Allen (music director for Jazz on the Elevens), Cyrus Chestnut, and Danilo Pérez; saxophonist and NEA Jazz Master Frank Wess, a classmate of Billy Taylor's growing up in Washington, DC; trumpeter Terence Blanchard; vocalists Harolyn Blackwell and Carmen Lundy; longtime Taylor Trio members Chip Jackson (bass) and Winard Harper (drums); plus Howard University's premier jazz vocal group, Afro Blue, directed by Connaitre Miller, fresh from their recent appearance on NBC's The Sing-Off, and Taylor protégée Christian Sands (pianist). This once-in-a-lifetime swingin' concert is not to be missed. Part of Swing, Swing, Swing.
