Fortas Chamber Music Concert: Augustin Hadelich, Joyce Yang & Pablo Villegas: Tango, Song, and Dance
Acclaimed violinist Augustin Hadelich is joined by dazzling pianist Joyce Yang and dynamic guitarist Pablo Villegas for a multimedia recital featuring works by Previn, Rodrigo, Falla, Piazzolla, Ginastera, Ysayë, and Villa-Lobos.
- Mon., Apr. 21, 2014, 7:30 PM
- Terrace Theater
The special multimedia recital they have put together, Tango, Song, and Dance, is built around a trio of lighthearted virtuoso pieces composed in 1997 by André Previn, here performed by Hadelich and Yang. Hadelich performs two works with Villegas, Piazolla's L'Histoire du tango arranged for violin and guitar and Falla's Five Popular Songs. Interspersed are solo works, including Villegas in Rodrigo's Invocation and Dance, Yang in Ginastera's Danzas Argentinas, and Hadelich in Ysaÿe's monumental Sixth Solo Violin Sonata. The program concludes with the trio coming together to play Villa-Lobos's most popular work, Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5.
