Smetana - From "My Life"

What makes a chamber ensemble great? The melding of great players with seemingly a single mind driving the performance. This, along with thousands of pages of other laudatory descriptions in reviews over their 36-year-career, describes The Guarneri String Quartet. These four eminent musicians play together as one, providing "vital lessons in the subtle chamber music art of sharing. The musicians were so connected...to one another that the piece sounded utterly fulfilled in expressive design...always with clarity emanating from fingers and bows. Such aristocratic athleticism has helped keep the Guarneri vibrant and cherishable." (Donald Rosenberg, Cleveland Plain Dealer). The Quartet performs only once in Washington each season, and only those lucky (or savvy) enough to secure a ticket early will hear them.

Part of the Kennedy Center's Millennium Celebration of the Legacy and Promise of the Performing Arts.
