The National Symphony Orchestra's hidden treasures are its individual players, many of whom share a no-so-secret love of chamber music. This program presents a quartet of charismatic leading members of the NSO whose separate accomplishments as soloists and chamber musicians comprise an impressive list: Elisabeth Adkins, know for her "long singing phrases" (Financial Times, London) and "remarkable ensemble playing intelligent phrasing, and perfect intonation" (The Washington Post); violist Daniel Foster, whose "memorable tone and technique add flair to the music" (The Washington Post); cellist David Hardy, whose playing "evoke[s] a world of possibilities, earthly and otherwordly, creating haunting moans and sighs alongside lusty chords" (The Washington Post); pianist Lisa Emenheiser Logan, an NSO pianist and an established chamber musician who has performed around the world with such stars as Jean-Pierre Rampal and Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg.
Part of the Kennedy Center's Millennium Celebration of the Legacy and Promise of the Performing Arts.
