To have two composers perform works of their own in one stunning concert is by itself an extraordinary event. To have them hand-select the performers to perform with them is a triumph. Joan Tower and Ned Rorem have enthusiastically agreed to do just that, in one unforgettable concert. The performance includes includes two of Rorem's moving song cycles. Tower's works feature both recent compositions and old favorites that reinforce her status "among the most original and forceful voices in modern American music" (The Detroit News). This once-in-a-lifetime event is the perfect conclusion to the perfect season.
