Leonard Slatkin conducts Mahler’s Ninth Symphony, a work depicting the monumental struggle between life and death.
PLEASE NOTE: Leonard Slatkin will begin the concert promptly at curtain time with an insightful discussion on Mahler's masterpiece. This introduction will last approximately 20 minutes and will explore the personal dimensions of the work, including the composer's influences for his symphony. The introduction will also include musical excerpts. Following a short intermission, the NSO will perform Mahler's Ninth Symphony in its entirety.
