This three part series will illuminate the life and legacy of the great Agrippa Vaganova, the originator of the Russian system of ballet technique that gave the world Rudolf Nureyev, Natalia Makarova, Mikhail Baryshnikov among many others. From the drama of Vaganova's personal life, her own frustrating dance career, to the inspiration that led her to become one of the ballet's legends, to a demonstration of Vaganova technique, you'll learn how the Vaganova system has changed and enriched the world of dance.

SESSION ONE:
Vaganova and the World She Lived In - includes discussion about Pavlova, Nijinsky, etc.

SESSION TWO:
Learning the Vaganova Training (features former Kirov prima ballerina and current Ballet Mistress at American Ballet Theatre Irina Kolpakova, and Katerina Shelkanova, ballet dancer and former soloist with the Kirov Ballet and American Ballet Theatre.

SESSION THREE:
Vaganova Goes Worldwide: includes discussion about the Bolshoi, Kirov, Royal and more.
