About
Under the baton of Music Director Heinz Fricke, Washington
National Opera brings to the Opera House stage a colorful,
visually striking and fantastical production of Mozart's final
opera, Die Zauberflöte, or The Magic Flute. Traditional
fairy tale elements intermingle with symbols important to the
Masonic movement, of which Mozart was a follower. From the eloquent first chords of the famous overture to the Queen of the
Night's coloratura outburst of vengeance, The Magic Flute celebrates wisdom, virtue, and brotherhood.
Performed in German with English Supertitles.
