Washingtonians have eagerly awaited Washington National Opera's first Ring cycle, Richard Wagner's extraordinary four-opera saga of gods, giants, men, and the dwarves of the underworld. This season, WNO produces the first opera of the series, Das Rheingold, an epic tale of intrigue focused on a mystical golden ring that gives the wearer universal power--at the cost of forever renouncing love. This important project is conceived and directed by Francesca Zambello and conducted by Music Director Heinz Fricke. The exciting cast features Robert Hale as Wotan, Robin Leggate as Loge, Gordon Hawkins as Alberich, and Elizabeth Bishop as Fricka.
NOTE: Performance running time is 2 hours and 20 minutes.
There is no intermission.
