To celebrate the 250th anniversary of Mozart's birth, WNO presents its premiere production of La Clemenza di Tito, Mozart's penultimate opera. With this opera, Mozart returned to the opera seria form so loved by the eighteenth-century aristocracy, composing a score full of noble music and virtuoso singing. A story of love, revenge, and forgiveness in ancient Rome, renowned German-Canadian tenor Michael Schade stars as Emperor Titus, and sopranos Tatiana Pavlovskaya and Cristina Nassif share the role of Vitellia, a woman determined to either marry the emperor or murder him. Music Director Heinz Fricke conducts and the esteemed Michael Hampe directs.
