World-renowned bass Samuel Ramey plays both tragedy and comedy in an evening that pairs Béla Bartók's psychological thriller Duke Bluebeard's Castle with Giacomo Puccini's wry comedy Gianni Schicchi. Directed by William Friedkin, the creator of The Exorcist and The French Connection, the double-bill also stars Washington-born mezzo-soprano Denyce Graves. Bluebeard is sung in Hungarian with English supertitles. Gianni Schicchi is sung in Italian with English supertitles.
Note: Supertitles are not visible from the rear orchestra.
