It's a question of love versus loyalty in La Fille du régiment, Donizetti's charming opéra comique. Soprano Stefania Bonfadelli makes her company debut as the orphaned Marie, who must decide between her affection for the young Swiss Tonio and her promise to marry a member of the military regiment that adopted her. Yet, after a family reunion reveals surprising secrets, love wins the day and all ends happily. WNO presents a talented cast of comic actors, including Bonfadelli, José Bros (Lucia di Lammermoor) as Tonio, Victoria Livengood (Les Contes d'Hoffmann) as La Marquise, Operalia winner Simone Alberghini (La Cenerentola) as Sulpice Pingot, and former Domingo-Cafritz Young Artist JiYoung Lee sharing the role of Marie. Emilio Sagi (Luisa Fernanda) directs the production from Teatro Comunale di Bologna, and eminent conductor Riccardo Frizza (L'italiana in Algeri, La Cenerentola) returns to WNO to conduct Donizetti's lively score.
