About

The Georgetown Boys: A Tribute to Genocide Survival

The Youth Theater Group of the New Jersey Chapter of the Hamazkayin American Educational and Cultural Society presents The Georgetown Boys, a musical written and directed by Dr. Herand Markarian.

Following the Armenian Genocide of 1915, thousands of children were orphaned.  From among these, 109 children were brought to Georgetown, Canada, a farming town near Toronto.  Here they were educated and trained in farming until they were of working age.  The play centers on Michael, one of the first of the boys, who returns to visit Georgetown after a ten-year absence.  He recalls the experiences of his youth: games the boys played, their caretaker Mrs. Farmer, happy moments the boys shared including their first real Christmas, their Armenian teacher Mr. Alexanian, and... his first love.
Performance timing:  Two and a half hours, including one intermission.

Tickets for this performance are available from the presenter only, not through the Box Office or Instant Charge.  For further information, reservations, and to purchase tickets, please contact:
