Libretto by Michele Carré and Jules Barbier
Ambroise Thomas's musically and dramatically virtuosic adaptation of the classic story follows Hamlet in his pursuit to avenge his father's murder. Known for Ophélie's hauntingly beautiful mad scene, "Et maintenant écoutez ma chanson," this dazzling production by Thaddeus Strassberger vividly brings Shakespeare's famous play to life. Conducting honors are shared by WNO's General Director Plácido Domingo and Patrick Fournillier.
Performed in French with English supertitles.
Supertitles may not be visible from the rear of the orchestra; please contact WNO Audiences Services at (202) 295-2400 for further information.
