Cantate Chamber Singers is Maryland's premier chamber ensemble, dedicated to artistically exciting performances of distinctive choral music throughout the Washington metropolitan area. Cantate performs a broad range of great Western choral literature of the past five centuries and is recognized as one of the D.C. area's outstanding interpreters of Baroque choral music. Cantate is also known for its adventuresome programming, especially of 20th and 21st century music. The first half of the program is performed unaccompanied. Following intermission, wind instruments and members of Bowen McCauley Dance, Lucy Bowen McCauley, director, join Cantate for a newly commissioned choreography accompanying Stravinsky's Mass.
Performance timing: Part One - 60 min.; Intermission - 20 min.; Part Two - 20 min.
