About

The Plácido Domingo Celebrity Series honors Maestro Domingo and his invaluable role in shaping the artistry of WNO, and continues the company's tradition of bringing some of the world's finest singers to Washington audiences.

Critics and audiences agree: Juan Diego Flórez is quite simply the leading bel canto tenor of our day.  With pitch-perfect high C's, brilliant runs, and a warm golden timbre, it's no wonder that the beloved Peruvian tenor "could practically make this a golden age of Rossini all by himself."  (Newsday)  His performances in opera as well as in concert, on the world's most important stages, have won him great acclaim by both the public and critics alike.  Now Washington will have one chance to experience Juan Diego Flórez and his expressive, effortless, and virtuosic singing in a concert featuring the bel canto repertoire for which he is best known.  This one-night only event is sure to sell out quickly.
