The Bayanihan Dance Company offers a program titled Philippinescape, consisting of five dance suites that portray different aspects of Phillipine life, history, and culture. People Under the Sun presents the friendly sunny nature of Filipino country folk. Mindanao Mosaic brings to life the Arabian and Indo-Malayan influences that settled on this vast island as early as the 14th century. Intramuros of Memory illustrates the pervasive echo of four centuries of Spanish influence on Filipino dance styles. The dances of Traditions Renewed breathe new life, meaning, and feeling into ancient rituals in the highlands of Mindanao and the Sulu Achipelago. Amorsolo is Bayanihan's tribute to the first national artist of the Philippines, Fernando Amorsolo.
Performance Timing: Part One - 50 min.; Intermission - 15 min.; Part Two - 30 min.
