About
Television icons Henry Winkler and John Ritter star in this romantic comedy of marriage that marks Kennedy Center Honoree SimonÆs 31st play. Winkler plays Albert Donay, the shuffling, swankless rent-a-car salesman whose leech-like devotion to his first wife (who, incidentally, was also his second) led straight to divorce (twice). RitterÆs Claude Pichon is a well-bred antiquated book dealer whose failed writing aspirations echo all the louder in what he thinks of as the hollow successes of his first wifeÆs bestsellers. The rest of the cast, including Len Cariou (Sweeney Todd), Veanne Cox (Erin Brockovich, YouÆve Got Mail), Penny Fuller (Applause, ôThe Elephant Manö), and Anette Michelle Sanders (Cabaret), is a colorful mix of neuroses and narcissists who still feel, in moments, the old tug of love that once briefly bound their marriages.
The Dinner Party ôis cleverly constructed-ingeniously constructed, in fact-with plenty of sharp one-linersö (New Times Los Angeles) with a sumptuous set by John Lee Beatty (Chicago). Order your tickets today, and donÆt forget to save room for dessert: this bittersweet finale ôhits exactly the right final chord.ö
The Kennedy Center Theater Season is sponsored by Delta Air Lines.
