ôFilled with the joys and heartaches of life.ö
--Roger Meersman, Journal Newspapers
ôSparkling as the finest Irish crystal. This buoyant musical...takes place at the annual holiday party given by a pair of maiden aunts--a gracious, genteel event on a snowy Dublin evening at the turn of the 20th century. ItÆs indicative of how beautifully the musical captures the spirit of the occasion that you feel like one of the guests. Spontaneous pleasure.ö

"If you want a theatrical treat that enchants, surprises and finally thrills with unexpected depth, get thee double quick to [The Dead]." Clive Barnes, The New York Post
Based on James Joyce's haunting, lovely short story, this inspired musical won the hearts of audiences off- and on Broadway.
"Enchanted....such moments of transcendance are, as Joyce well knew, close to heaven as humanity ever comes" (Ben Brantley, The New York Times).
Joyce's story, the last in the collection he titled 'The Dubliners,' is of three elderly sisters, all music teachers, gathered with family and friends at their annual Christmas party in turn-of-the-century Ireland. The songs, by Tony nominated Richard Nelson (lyrics) and Shaun Davey (music), the dances, the festivities, are as purely part of their place and the era as can be imagined; but the themes--of longing, loss, joy, fear--are universal. After a successful run off-Broadway, this critically acclaimed show moved to Broadway. Now you have a chance to see it at the Kennedy Center.
