About

The Kennedy Center Theater Season 2001-2002
Adapted by Nick Enright and Justin Monjo
Directed by Neil Armfield
Artistic Director of Company B Belvoir

A collaboration between two of Australia's most respected theater companies- Sydney's Company B Belvoir and Perth's Black Swan Theatre- Cloudstreet has been adapted for the stage by Nick Enright and Justin Monjo, and is directed by Neil Armfield, Artistic Director of Company B Belvoir.

Presented by a cast of 15, this monumental play swept across Australia and brought European audiences to tears and rapturous applause. Playwright Enright creates a gripping saga of two very different families thrust together by tragedy. Uncomfortably together, they travel toward self-discovery and reconciliation, through a drama that includes mystical overtones and the injustices endured by Aboriginal Australians. Everywhere this play has toured, it has met sold-out theaters and critical adulation: "Overwhelming, even life-changing" (The Australian), "glorious" (The London Times), "the kind of show that comes along about once in a decade to remind us why we keep going to the theater" (International Herald Tribune).
