Everything you’ve heard is true! "Mel Brooks has put the comedy back in musical comedy!" raves USA Today, which hails THE PRODUCERS, the new MEL BROOKS musical as "the funniest, most fearlessly irreverent thing ever seen on stage!"

THE PRODUCERS, the new MEL BROOKS musical makes its Washington premiere at the Kennedy Center Opera House for a limited 9-week engagement beginning June 23 and playing through August 22.

Winner of a record-breaking twelve 2001 Tony Awards®, the musical the New York Observer calls "the best show ever" is the biggest smash to hit Broadway in years. Directed and choreographed by five-time Tony Award® winner Susan Stroman (Crazy for You, Contact, The Music Man), the New York Times declares, "THE PRODUCERS, the new MEL BROOKS musical is a blissful spectacle that will leave you delirious!"

Based on Mr. Brooks’s Academy Award®–winning 1968 film of the same name, THE PRODUCERS, the new MEL BROOKS musical is the story of Max Bialystock, a down-on-his-luck theatrical producer, and Leo Bloom, a mousy accountant. Together, they hatch the ultimate scam: raise more money than you need for a surefire Broadway flop and pocket the difference. Their "surefire" theatrical fiasco? None other than the musical Springtime for Hitler. Unfortunately, their foolproof plan backfires when the show becomes a hit.

Starring two-time Tony Award® nominee Lewis J. Stadlen (Candide, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum) as Max Bialystock and stage and screen actor Alan Ruck (Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, TV's Spin City) as Leo Bloom, THE PRODUCERS, the new MEL BROOKS musical is an entertainment sensation, an irresistible hit that has captured the imaginations of critics and audiences alike. Featuring scene after scene of delicious, laugh-out-loud comedy, spectacular costumes and sets, 16 wickedly witty new songs, and some of the most gloriously outrageous dance numbers to ever grace a Broadway stage, this madcap musical is a unique and unforgettable theatrical experience that must be seen to be believed.

This show contains mature humor and adult language and is not recommended for children under 12 years.
