On Monday, April 12, the Kennedy Center officially launched its eagerly anticipated festival Tennessee Williams Explored with this engaging symposium, featuring award-winning actresses Zoe Caldwell, Rosemary Harris, Estelle Parsons, and Eva Marie Saint discussing their work in Williams's productions and encounters with the playwright himself.



Charles Osgood of CBS News Sunday Morning hosts "Women of Tennessee," a one-night-only symposium featuring some of Williams’s great leading ladies. The symposium will allow actresses Zoe Caldwell, Rosemary Harris, Estelle Parsons, and Eva Marie Saint to recall their work in Williams's productions, as well as their encounters with the playwright himself.

Zoe Caldwell made her Broadway debut in Williams’s "Slapstick Tragedy," winning the 1966 Tony Award for her portrayal of Polly. Tony winner Rosemary Harris performed as Blanche DuBois in Lincoln Center’s smash revival of "A Streetcar Named Desire" in 1973. Estelle Parsons received a Tony nomination in 1969 for her role in Williams’s play "The Seven Descents of Myrtle." And in 1973, Academy Award winner Eva Marie Saint appeared as the Southern spinster Alma Winemiller in Williams’s "Summer and Smoke," which played at the Kennedy Center.
