Start with the Arts Family Day is a celebration of the visual and performing arts named after VSA's signature resource designed to integrate the arts into early childhood learning. The Start with the Arts Family Day engages children in hands-on arts experiences, and provides parents and teachers with resources for inclusive arts education activities. Showcasing the power of children's imaginations and the importance of the arts in education, the family day also features workshops across a number of disciplines as well as performances by professional artists. Featured artists include VSA 2009–2010 Teaching Artist Fellows, VSA Hawaii's Guywood Dela Cruz, VSA Tennessee's Lake Rise Place, Iceland's Perlan Theater Group, and Maryland's Quest Theatre Company.
