PATRON NOTE: 5/12/11: It is with deep regret that WPAS announces the cancellation of the May 23 Kennedy Center performance of Ravi Shankar, due to international travel complications with a trusted member of his ensemble.  Mr. Shankar has the greatest love for his many fans in the Washington area and hopes to schedule a date in the near future.

Credited with introducing India's intricate classical music to Western audiences, "the godfather of world music" celebrates his 90th birthday with this special concert. The New York Times has commented that Ravi Shankar "continues to illuminate the Indian classical tradition one piece at a time."
