Recognized as a leading performer on the cutting edge of the musical world, cellist Maya Beiser has commissioned and collaborated with many of the world's renowned musicians and composers. She has established herself as a strong voice for contemporary music, inspiring and creating a fresh repertoire for her instrument across cultures and genres. The magazine Classic CD called her "a searingly passionate player who surpasses all technical difficulties with ease," and the Los Angeles Times selected her latest CD, Kinship, as one of the 10 best classical discs of the year. This evening of solo works, integrated with video projection and multi-tracking, will include a new commission by composer David Lang, a premiere of a piece by Steve Reich, works by Tan Dun and Louis Andriessen, and other works.
