About

Egyptian pianist Fathy Salama grew up listening to the radio, which broadcasted artists who influenced him so much that he decided to become a musician. Playing the piano at the age of six was followed by gigging in Cairo clubs at thirteen and journeys to Europe and New York to learn jazz. His music reflects his tireless efforts to bridge traditional and modern music from the Orient. In 2004, Salama collaborated with Youssou N'Dour on the Grammy Award–winning album, Egypt. For his program Sultany, he plays with his orchestra.
