Free tickets are required. This is a Reserved Seating event and tickets are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. On Saturday, January 31, 2009, ticket distribution--one (1) ticket per person in line--will begin at 4 p.m. in front of the Opera House. Kennedy Center staff will admit patrons to the building when it opens at 10 a.m. Lines typically form early in the day. The ticket line will start outdoors, on the south side of the Center (Hall of Nations), adjacent to the South Plaza. Patrons are advised to wear warm clothing.
The Kennedy Center, in honor of Performing Arts for Everyone's 12 years of free daily performances on the Millennium Stage, presents a free concert celebrating the third generation of Broadway composers. Hosted by Michael A. Kerker, ASCAP, the performance features a parade of Tony-recognized artists, including nine-time Tony Award nominee Stephen Schwartz, Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens (Ragtime, Once on This Island), Scott Frankel & Michael Korie (Grey Gardens), and Jeanine Tesori (Caroline, Or Change). Vocalists include Tony winner Brian Stokes Mitchell, Liz Callaway (Merrily We Roll Along, Miss Saigon, Cats), Capathia Jenkins (Caroline, or Change; Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me), and KT Sullivan performing with the composers at the piano.
