Exhibit: The AIDS Memorial Quilt: Quilt in the Capital 2012
June 26 - July, 26, 2012
South Gallery, 10 a.m. - 10 p.m.

The United States is hosting the XIX International AIDS Conference in Washington, D.C. from July 22 to 27, 2012.  To mark the occasion, The NAMES Project Foundation is "blanketing" the National Capital Region with displays of The AIDS Memorial Quilt during the month of July.  Quilt In the Capital displays are taking place in more than 50 locations throughout the area.  The seven arts-related panels on display in the Kennedy Center's South Gallery include tributes to Alvin Ailey, Rudolf Nureyev, Howard Ashman, Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, and more. The Quilt now consists of more than 48,000 panels representing the lives of 94,000 individuals taken by AIDS, sewn by more than 100,000 friends and family members.
