About

Reiko Sudo is the co-founder of Nuno Corporation, a Tokyo company whose name is synonymous with innovative textiles that blend tradition and technology. Drawing on traditional aesthetics and attention to creative processes to inspire today's fashions, Nuno enlists modern technologies to make Japan's "lost art" more accessible to textile lovers. Her work has been shown worldwide, including an exhibit at the Museum of Modern Art and more recently in the Metropolitan Opera's world premiere of Tan Dun's The First Emperor.

Sudo's innovative exhibition for the festival will illuminate textile design in the form of a giant fish. Her inspiration comes from the Japanese national holiday Kodomo No Hi ("Children's Day"), during which families fly beautiful carp-shaped windsocks called koinobori outside their homes, as a wish of good fortune.
