A large exhibition of traditional crafts from all over India is a central focus of maximum INDIA. Along with the exhibition, there will be live demonstrations by some expert craftsmen, as well as a crafts market.

About
It's almost a truism to say that the crafts of India are among the world's most varied, beautiful, and refined, created by artisans whose skills and traditions have been perfected within families and passed on from one generation to the next. This exhibition, Kaleidoscope: Mapping India's Crafts, displays a range of artifacts created by these craftsmen, providing a lens through which we experience kaleidoscopic India, complex and colorful with perpetually changing patterns and scenes.
A caravan of bicycles stacked with boxes and crafts, panoramic projections of filmic images of people and places, and a giant map studded with hand-crafted objects offer a dynamic and unexpected view of the vitality of craft creativity in India. A selection of extraordinary objects (on loan from the Crafts Museum, New Delhi, as well as from private collections) is drawn from different parts of the country--rural or tribal, primitive or highly developed--to complete the picture of a culture where arts and crafts go hand-in-hand.
