Join Busboys and Poets as they celebrate the poetic legacy of hip-hop with a special performance and discussion with DC hip-hop artist and educator Asheru, showcasing the connection between hip-hop MCs and the poets from the American writing tradition, specifically Langston Hughes and others from the Harlem Renaissance. Hosted by Busboys and Poet's Director of Poetry Events (D.o.P.E.) Bomani Armah, the event also features an online competition to find four rappers/writers (younger than 22) to perform a song at the event. The winners of the competition will receive 2 hours of studio time at Urban Intalek Studios and highlighted on DCplace.com.
