Presto! The Case of the Vanishing Viola
Oh no, a musician's viola has been stolen! Could the culprit be the magician next door? With the guidance of Presto!--a talented string trio composed of violinist Karen Lowry-Tucker and violist Elizabeth Pulju-Owen (both members of the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra) along with cellist/magician Drew Owen--you get to follow the clues to help our detective crack the case. Along the way, discover the secrets of string instruments and the music they play. Expect engaging stories, a wide range of classical styles, plenty of audience participation, and phenomenal feats of magic!
For age 4 and up.
Performance Timing: 50 minutes, with no intermission
Come early for the Musical Instrument "Petting Zoo." Starting one hour before each Kinderkonzert, this hands-on activity in the Kennedy Center Hall of States gives children a chance to get up close with the instruments they'll see played on stage--from violins and trumpets to oboes and flutes. A project of the Women's Committee for the NSO.
Note: The 11 a.m. performance on Sat., January 11 is Sensory-Friendly.
