400 Maryland Avenue, SW
Dates: June 7 - July 23 (Mon-Fri only; closed on Mon., July 5)
A new international visual arts exchange, Arte Postale provides standards-based educational components while creating cross-cultural adventures through the arts. During the 2009–2010 academic year, VSA facilitated the participation of more than 30 classrooms. Students created and exchanged visual artwork that reflects their lives and culture with a partner classroom in another country. Selected works of art from the Arte Postale exchange will be exhibited at the U.S. Department of Education through July 23.
On June 7 at 10 a.m., a speaking program and performance featuring traditional Sri Lankan dance with Kosala Uditha Kumara Dullewa and classical pianist Briana Duensing will precede the ribbon-cutting to open the exhibition.
This event is free. RSVPs are required for entrance to the exhibition and performance on June 7. To make a reservation to view the exhibition on all other dates, please contact Marilyn Joyner at firstname.lastname@example.org.
