The Colorado Springs Youth Symphony Orchestra

In September, 1996, the Colorado Springs Youth Symphony Orchestra was the only orchestra from the United States to participate in the Fuji City International Youth Musicale. Following their appearance at this event, the Youth Symphony was invited to visit Auckland, New Zealand. A 1998 tour was planned that resulted in a performance in the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Town Hall in Australia, as well as in the Town Hall of Auckland. Most recently, select members of the Youth Symphony returned to Japan to perform for the 1999 Japan/America Grassroots summit in Shizuoka, Japan, with additional concerts in Fuji City and Tokyo. During July, 2000, the Youth Symphony traveled to Europe, where the orchestra participated in its first international competition, the prestigious International Youth and Music Festival in Vienna, Austria.
