The Fulbright Scholar Program

Established in 1946 under legislation introduced by former Senator J. William Fulbright of Arkansas, the Fulbright Scholar Program is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. Department of State. The Fulbright Scholar Program is administered by the Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES), which is a division of the Institute of International Education (IIE).
