José Antonio Galeano

Born in Asuncion, Paraguay, in 1952, Jose Antonio Galeano is a lawyer, teacher, musician, cultural promoter and social communicant. He is a member of the musical group “Sembrador” and directs the choral group “Hoy.” A former director of a bilingual school and other institutions, Galeano has taught at the Catholic University in Asuncion. He was elected a Councilman of Asuncion, in the city elections last November, for the Movimiento Ciudadano Independiente “Asamblea de Asuncion.” Galeano has published a diverse amount of texts, a selection of his poetry, a biographical essay, a book about Paraguay’s popular music, and, as a co-writer, an historical investigation.
