Tony Trishka's Glory Shone Around

Tony Trischka and his musical friends celebrate the winter holidays with a study in musical contrasts: a beautiful 18th century shape note Christmas song, old-time fiddle tunes, classically-influenced holiday carols, hard-driving bluegrass, turn-of-the-century banjo/piano duets, obscure Sephardic Chanukah music and much more. Tony Trischka is one of the world’s most innovative banjo players. Throughout his thirty year career, Trischka has explored a wide variety of genres usually considered out-of-bounds for the banjo. On his debut album, “Bluegrass Light,” in 1973, Trischka merged bluegrass, jazz, rock and classical. He has performed with Bela Fleck, David Grisman, the Violent Femmes, members of REM, William S.
